As everyone knows with large litters there is often more work in making sue the pups take shifts and all pups get enough to eat. What I found amazing is that Alaska separated her pups and feed in shifts on her own with the pups. She is the best mom we have ever had. This eased all my worries for the pups in a large litter because she is ultimately the smartest mom I have ever known.
Many volunteers of loving individuals came to help feed the orphaned pups. We felt the outpouring of love from friends and family members. We had little time to mourn as we began feeding the pups every hour for the first two days round the clock. I took on the first evening not realizing that it would take me an hour to feed all 5 and then I would have to start all over again. luckily my sons took over in the morning so I could sleep for about 4 hours. Sleep deprivation was taking it's tole on us as we worked round the clock to care for these pups. the 3rd day was a blessing as we started feeding every 2 hours. then after 2 weeks we began feeding them 3 every 3 hours. we were in heaven at this point! once they started eating from a bowl life was at its best! These pups are so bonded to people and are the gentlest pups we have ever raised which sounds impossible but true and full of life and playful and calm. They are simply amazing and you won't find another litter like this in your lifetime. We had many volunteers come in and help us feed them so it did not take as long to feed all 5 pups with so many helping hands.
They are 9 weeks old and ready to go to their forever families. We call our dogs the perfect dogs. We have been raising great Golden retrievers for over 30 years. They have been the best dogs. Then we got Luna and we could not believe what a perfect dog she is. People would visit and say how is she so perfect? Then we added Samson into the family and wow! He is amazing! Also called perfect by all who meet him. They are the best pair. Call now to see these pups they won't last for long.
Today the pups were temperament tested by different trainers of service dogs! It was a long and busy day for them. The pups were put through a series of tests and did very well.
They had to deal with umbrellas and strange noises and toys and being tugged on and so forth. They all did so well. It is interesting to find out that for service dogs it is not always easy working in the public. Children will come up to them uninvited and tug on their ears. People do not always seem to respect that this is a dog performing a service and should not be bothered. So these pups had to be tested to their resilience to these kind of things. And they did so well. Today we had a wonderful Easter Celebration which included our Dogs. It was a nice overcast warm evening after the rain and lightening in the afternoon. On your mark, get set, go! |
AuthorI have been loving Golden Retrievers my entire life, and have been professionally breeding them for 30 years. Golden's have brought so much joy to our family, and countless other families that we have been fortunate enough to have associations with. Archives
